Service links and service icons for WordPress plugin
Over 100,000 downloads after the last WordPress milestone, AddToAny is releasing version .9.9 of the sharing and bookmarking plugin for WordPress blogs!
As many of you know, .9.9 is one unusually high version number for the plugin, and it’s oh-so-close to that tasty 1.0. With this particularly special release, we’re fulfilling the requests of many people in one major new feature:
Individual service links!
It isn’t a joke (though Happy good-luck-filtering-through-the-real-news Day!) and it isn’t earth-shatteringly original. To develop this feature, we actually had to travel back in time to circa 2005 when service chicklets of varying sizes were all the rage, and all over blogs. On the surface this seems somewhat weird: Here we are, home of the world’s first decluttering all-inclusive sharing, bookmarking and subscribing buttons, and now we’re peddling individual service icons! Why?
A very good reason: because it simply makes sense for publishers to optimize their sites for the services that bring the most return. Include those service links for your largest pools of sharers, and include the all-inclusive AddToAny sharing widget for everyone else. Your most valuable visitors are immediately served, and all other methods of sharing are perfectly enabled for the masses.
Sevice links + AddToAny, best of neighbors at last, officially on WordPress.
URL shortener for Twitter
Alright, Twitter. AddToAny hereby submits to your infamous yet uniquely awesome sharing limitations. This one’s for you.
Those of you who follow @micropat on Twitter might already be aware that AddToAny URL shortening for Twitter has been a work in progress, but here it is officially:
The AddToAny share button automatically shortens links shared to Twitter!
How shortened? Pretty pretty shortened, thanks to the power of bit.ly.
This special Twitter service is available in every AddToAny sharing widget and on legacy share pages, and is done automatically when one clicks on Twitter.
So scramble for your nearest share button and give the new Twitter URL shortening a whirl!
P.S. If you’re looking to take advantage of Twitter shortening as a standalone link, feel free to use the following URI scheme to help people share links via Twitter:

Drupal share button module
Hello, Drupal!
We’ve joined forces with one of our star open source platform developers, Patrick Przybilla, a Drupal developer, to bring you the Add to Any social bookmarking module for Drupal.
Much like the WordPress sharing plugin, the module lets you configure where and how the Share/Save widget displays in your Drupal stories and pages.
Also like the WordPress plugin, the Drupal module is responsibly optimized to always load after your content loads, and is very well-integrated with the Drupal CMS.
AddToAny is available for both Drupal 6 and Drupal 5. (Yep, we’re looking ahead to Drupal 7!)
As always, we’re looking for feedback. If you have any suggestions (or patches even!), feel free to get in touch anytime!
